I just found your query on the new Catawba Co NC site. The following comes from
Lorena Eaker’s two volumes about the Eaker family.
A Martin Huffman is mentioned in a 1807 Lincoln Co deed transaction (book #21 page
622).
There are at least two Barbara Eakers from that approximate time and location, but
neither appears to be the one you are looking for. One (born ca. 1761-died after 1805)
was married to John Houghsteetler/Huffstatler and later to William McMahon. Her
(only?) son is listed as William. She seems to present a real problem for researchers. Her birth date would not work with the marriage date you have.
Another (born ca. 1749-died after 1800) was married to Johame/Johann Nicholas
Warlick and then to John Hildebrand.
