It appears that Jacob King, husband of Keziah Butler King, and father of Capt. Charles King, died shortly after Charles' birth. Keziah remarried in 1732 - just two years after Charles' birth. And Jacob and Keziah only had two children: Ruth, born 1727 and Chalres, born 1730. Keziah married Samuel Osborne in 1732 and had several children by him. I believe Jacob King's parents were Peter King and Susannah Slover of Cecil County, Maryland. The only other record I could find about Jacob King was in the will of Peter King, from 1713, where Susannah, because of her ill health, appointed a guardian - Matthias Van Bibber, for her eldest son, Jacob. If this is the correct Jacob King - and I can find no others - he would have been 9 years old when his father died.-------------------

Richard Rigg. -----Rock Gap is an unincorporated community along Valley Road (U.S. Highway 522) in Morgan County, West Virginia, USA. It is located between Omps to its south and Berkeley Springs to its north. Situated between Warm Springs Ridge (1,086 feet) to its west and Timber Ridge (1,355 feet) to its east, Rock Gap takes its name from the "Rock Gap" in Warm Spring Ridge, carved out by Rock Gap Run, a tributary stream of Sleepy Creek. Rock Gap began as a small farming community along Valley Road. It had a post office in operation from 1884 to 1907 and again between 1921 and 1925. Residents of Rock Gap currently have a Berkeley Springs address. What happened to Mary Cude/Coode?
1768 - Timothy (Cude) Code was listed as a Regulator (The Colonial Records of North Carolina, Vol. VII (1765-1768) - FHL 975.6, N2n, 1993, vol. 7, pages 733-736 - Regulators' Advertisement No. 9 Page 737 (names of interest on this page) Timothy (Cude) Code and Jerem: Fields. Regulator Advertisement, No. 9 contained 480 signatures and was a petition circulated primarily by "the inhabitants of Orange County" in protest to the British governor Tryon, objecting to fees and taxes paid to the state. Timothy Cude was a Probably a Quaker, because he "is listed as being in Joseph Hind's District and in the group that "hath not taken the Oath of Allegiance and (hath) returned Inventories of their Taxable Property". It was against Quaker belief to swear an oath to anyone for any purpose. Seymour York and Tidence Lane were the executors of Shubael Stearns estate.------------ N.C. file: - Guilford Co NC Will abstracts: Shubal Stearns - 24 Oct 1771 -

This record probably has to do with Timothy selling the land in Frederick Co. VA, given the date. If he moved to live on this land till 1777, any record of him in the War of Independence would be in Virginia.- Joyner’s abstract of warrants and surveys for Berkeley County, VA - 26 Mar 1777 – Elizabeth (X) Steward certified her late husband Stephen (died intestate) rec’d payment from Timothy (Cude) Cood. HOPEWELL FRIENDS HISTORY 1734-1934 Frederick County, Virginia CHAPTER II THE FATHERS OF THE COLONY - Thomas Babb, 600 acres on Babb's Run, in Frederick County, Va. His will was probated November 4, 1760, and left his home plantation to his son Sampson Babb. He made bequests to his sons Philip, Joseph, and Peter, and to his daughter Elizabeth. Witnesses were James Steward and Janet Steward.(STUART)---Jesse PUGH Birth: 1732 Marriage 1 Elizabeth STEWART/STEWARD b: ABT. 1734 --Married: 1759 in Randolph County, North Carolina. Death: 1811 in Wilkes County, Georgia; Event: Ethnicity/Relig. Quaker---married his 1st cousin. This is the most interesting record. In 1763 Lord GRANVILLE died and from 1763 to 1778 his land office was not open and none of the Granville Grant, in North Carolina could be legally granted. He was the only Proprietor that would not sell his land to the King. For probate to take this long there must have been a lot of fighting among the heirs.
