Mr. Edgar William Oliver, age 87, of Blairsville, Georgia, passed away Saturday, July 3, 999 at his resi- dence. A native of Cherokee County, NC he was a retired self employed businessman. He was a WW II US Army Veteran and a member of New Martins Creek Baptist Church. He was the son of the late Floyd and Amanda Jane Chastain Oliver.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Vaudie Elizabeth Morris Oliver, sister, Lucille Hughes; brothers Coy and Porter Oliver and five other brother and sisters. Mr. Oliver is survived by one son, Ralph William Oliver of Hayesville, North Carolina; one daughter, Shiriene Elizabeth McDonald of Akron, Ohio, one sister, Lillian Hughes of Murphy, NC; six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 1999 at the Townson Rose Funeral Home Chapel in Murphy, NC. Rev. Lee Chastain and Rev. Hoyt Brown will officiate. Burial will be at the Bellview Community Cemetery, Murphy, NC. Military Graveside rites will be conducted by V.F.W. Post #10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post #96 and D.A.V. Chapter #73. Pallbearers were Kenneth Oliver, Chad Berry, Dewayne Townson, Keith Berry, Travis Chastain, Steve Oliver and Sam Gentry.
