A cemetery in Cleveland county that was long forgotten has been rediscovered. In this cemetery are people descended from William Mode and children, William McEntire and children, Archibald and Nancy Williamson, and others including Hords and Bartees. A restoration is planned, and we have been fortunate to have contacted descendants of most other than the Williamsons, with exception of one man in Georgia. Buried here are Archibald "Baldy" Williamson and wife Nancy Crowder Williamson, a daughter Mary Williamson who died at age 6, a daughter Nancy Williamson Hord, and possibly a son Milton L. Williamson and his wife Rachel Nowlin Williamson.

Same with me. My Grandmother was Lucille Bartee Godfrey. Who was your grandfather? Do you know what "Little Granny's" married name was? I believe/ have been told she was Can Bartee's sister, and I have found her death certificate, but it lists her last name as Bartee. The cemetery she is buried in has no Bartee's intered there. If you would like, I may have some photos you would like. One is Marion and his children at Maude's burial, and a few of Can.

For those with connections to the Mode surname, you may be interested in joining the Mode Surname Group on Facebook. Currently we have about 50 members, and many of them seem to have connections to the Mode clan in Western North Carolina, specifically in the counties of Cleveland, Rutherford, and McDowell. Some of the Mode clan ended up as far away as Oregon. Many of those in our group have done DNA testing as well, which has helped tremendously in tying up loose ends. Family members have submitted a variety of material including pictures, documents, Civil War records, and genealogical material.

Yes, we are related. There is a cemetery more in Kings Mountain than Shelby named Hullander Cemetery. Have you been there? Pvt Levi Connor Huffstetler is buried there - I have some pictures of the cemetery I can share = Malinda S Hullender is buried there - my tree is Rene Carlene Falls Shuford Family Tree - hope I can help and we cn share!

Beky, I saw your posts on the message board and noticed they date back quite a while. Have just begun searching for my husband's Pruitt line with origing in Cleveland County, NC. Early census shows him with parents James and Mary but I can't get beyond that. Have been assuming all the Pruitts are related somehow but want more information. The same names seem to repeat in each generation and the locations are always in that area. Do you have more information on Peter Newberry Pruitt, born 1878? James was married 3 times Caladona,Mary Wilson(my gr-grandma)and a nurse named Mary. Darcey was his sister. He is buried in Liberty,SC with Mary no 2 and Darcey.I can find nothing on my grgrma Mary.I know she died in Gaffney, SC in 1899 at the age of 34.He married the next Mary less than a years later?

I have a huge Sanders family database. I have looked at my Sanders lines in Cleveland 1840s-1850s for Margaret and did not find one. I have 3 Margarets, but they were born in other states at a later date.
I have Greenberry b. 1826 my Great Grandfather, his brothers Jeffrey,David Carson,James Wesley, and Allen in Cleveland but they had no Margaret who would be born in Cleveland in the 1840s-early 1850s.Olease keep me posted if you find any info on the Sanders who migrated from SC to Cleveland.Possibly there is a connection as many of our Sanders lines lived in SC.

I realize this post is old but I too am interested in this family. My deceased husband Emmett Moss was son of Hallie Thrift Moss, Dtr of P.M.Thrift, Son of Allen Thrift who married Margaret Sanders in early 1860's in Cleveland Co.,NC. She died before 1870 leaving 2 children. Please reply. Hilda Moss
