The date of 10 July 1877 comes from the book "Currituck County, NC marriage Register Book B 1868 - 1902" copied and compiled by Lois Johnson Meekins 1999. You will find the entry on page 26. Her records were also from the Courthouse. In the book the exact date is written as 10? July 1877. It may be that the date was hard to read and could have looked like either a zero or a nine. You would probably need to see the original to make your own determination.

In all the official records I have ever seen, her father's name is shown as Warner Sawyer. Warner and Elizabeth named their eldest son, James Best Sawyer.

The Death Certificate of Almira D. Waterfield states that her mother's maiden name was Bettie Best (as I'm sure you know, Bettie, is a nickname for Elizabeth). A photocopy of the Death Certificate is online at Ancestry. The information appears to have been provided by her son, W. M. Waterfield of Mamie.
