Sorry I can't help you with the homestead in Moyock. All I have is the deed that relinquished the land to Daniel Padrick. I have been reading Currituck Co. microfilm when I have the time and if I come across anything pertinent, I shall post it to the Currituck Co. web page.
So far a Jacob Sawyer's connection to the Pasquotank Co. Sawyers, I have not come across anything that shows the connection. Given the similarity in Christian names I strongly suspect they are related.
I have placed Jacob's birth about 1740. At the time of his death ca 1827 when his will was probated he named a wife Sarah. The way her legacy was worded leads me to believe she was probably not the Mother of all his children: "My will and desire is and I do give unto my Wife Sarah SAWYER all the property I got by marrage with her of what kind or nature soever." Sarah disputed his will in court:
"State of NCarolina Currituck P. August term 1827. This Last Will and Testament of Jacob SAWYER deceased was exhibited in open Court and proved by the oath of Thomas POYNER subscribing witness thereto and ordered to be recorded. When Jesse SAWYER the executor therein named came into open Court and qualified in due form of law and ordered that letters testamentary issue. At the same time Sarah SAWYER widow of the said Jacob SAWYER came into open Court and signified her dispute to the said Will, which was ordered to be entered of Record.
Recorded Oct. 12th 1827

Jacob b. ca. 1740 had seven known children:
Frederick d. bef. 1819
Phebe d. bef 1810
Jacob, Jr. d. between 30 Aug - 27 Nov 1815
Simeon d. between 12 Jul - 30 Aug 1814
Jesse d. 8 May 1949
I do not know who Jacob's parents were or the names of any siblings but I continue to search.
