Alexander LeGrande Whitehall is my fifth great grandfather. It goes this way to me -- Robert b.?, Alexander LeGrande b 1750, Thomas W.b 1777, Alexander LeGrande b 1799, Thomas b. 1828, Mary Emmaline (or Emmalyn) b b 1859, and then to Charles William Brown, my mom's dad..
So, the Whitehalls that came from North Carolina, with some settling in Indiana and then Mercer Co., IL eventually went even further west. There are so many still around here (Warren and Mercer Co., IL) that I just thought Illinois and Indiana were it for them.
I'm interested of course, in more family information. But if you've done a lot of research, I'm sure you know everything; I wouldn't have much to share. But I am right here beside Mercer Co. What can I tell you? I have read some neat history of Mercer Co. books and I've been to the cemetery. I'm eager to visit Currituck County sometime, too. I heard about the Battle of Great Bridge from a History of Fountain County Indiana.
