There was a William Cole in what was then Rowan Co. NC but became Davidson Co. NC as early as 1760s or so. His land is shown on an early map of folks who had land along the Yadkin River that I have - it was on the Davidson Co. side of the Yadkin River in the Bald Mtn. area near Lick Creek. He may have incorporated the land that belonged to my ancestors George Parke & Agnes Nichols after George died. I have a record of him as becoming the guardian of Agne's younger children after George's death and will include it below. I have often wonderred what happened to my Agnes after that - she just seems to disappear and perhaps she also soon died.. I have no record of her remarrying.

In 1785 William Cole, Justice of the County Court, had been appointed the guardian of the orphans of a George Parke and his wife, Agnes Nichols (Rowan County marriage bond dated 5 February 1762, Jacob Nichols and Henry Lively, bondsmen.) (18). It is not known if there is any relationship between Agnes Nichols and William Nichols, son-in-law of Stephen and Sarah Pettypool.

1785 May 5 Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions, William Cole, Esq apptd guardian of John Park, Mary Park [married 1787 Robert McKee], Agness Park, Joshua Park, Huldy Park, & Jacob Nichols Park, orphans of George Park dec'd & gave £400 bond with James McCay [McKee] security.
