Randy:
I have been researching the Frey/Fry/Frye lineage for about 9 years now. I can go with absolute certainty to 1836, the birth of my greatgreat grandfather, James T. Fry. (His children changed the spelling to Frye) Unfortunately, I am not certain who his parents are, as there are 2 James Fry's
in the 1840 Rowan census showing the same age, and in different households. One shows parents of Nathan and Sarah Fry, and the other shows only a mother, Keziah Fry. I do find a Nathan Fry in earlier censuses, and living next door to one of the Henry Fry's. Here again, it is impossible to tell WHICH Henry Fry.....and as there are MANY of the Frey/Fry's with Henry/Heinrich as part of their names, that makes it so difficult. And...there is no certainty that Nathan was even decended from this Henry Fry, as there are no other records on him besides the census. However...I have traced this lineage back to the mid 1500's in Switzerland. They came to America in 1733, in Pennsyvania,
and moved to NC in 1755 to establish the Moravian community of Salem, NC (Winston-Salem today). I have seen SO MANY pedigree charts going back to this family, and SO MANY errors. I have visited Salem many times and poured over the Moravian records ( which are VERY complete and precise).
I have visited the cemetaries and churches...but am still at this brick wall. As for Vincent Fry...I have seen his name in some of my files...I will look him up and write you when I find him. Thanks for you input.
