The Davidson Co., NC, Genealogical Society has compiled 8 volumes of cemetery records. [This was done up through the mid-1980s.] Every known cemetery in the county, whether public or private, was visited and all legible writing on each stone was recorded. Even the grave depressions with no markers were noted. Directions to each cemetery are also given.
Each volume covers an area of the county, i.e. western, southern, central, etc., and each is fully indexed. These volumes are available for public use at the main branch of the Davidson Co. Public Library on South Main Street, Lexington. They are also available for individual purchase at the main branch or through the Gen. Society.
As information, the Gen. Society has also compiled the marriage records from 1822-1939 in 5 volumes, also available for use at the library or for purchase individually.
These are great helps! Those who worked on these projects did us an excellent service.
