The Robert Taylor in my lineage was born 1709 in Gunpowder Hundred, Baltimore Co., ND; he married Catherine (surname thought to be Ellis) and moved to Craven County in 1729/1730. His children were Moses (b.1729), Aaron (1731), Abraham (1733), Mary (1736), two daughters whose given names haven't been found (b.1738 & 1740), James (b.1740-1742) and Robert (before Sept 1747).

For a considerable period of time, from about 1730 through 1760, he lived on or near Core Creek near present-day Cove City. Later, he moved across the Neuse River to near Kinston in present-day Lenoir County. (This are was successively Craven, Johnston and Dobbs.) He died in 1785.

I doubt this helps with your Robert Taylor; they seem to have been two different men with the same name.
