My name is James Allen Rigsbee, son of James Arlington Rigsbee, son of Matthew Monroe Rigsbee. I've been trying for years (not very earnestly) to get data on my family tree. My dad's family mostly lived in Orange County, NC. My grandfather, Matthew, was supposedly a colorful character and owned the "Rock House" somewhere in Orange or Durham county?

Sorry if this is the wrong thread to jump in on. I just wanted to know if anyone has information beyond this.

I've heard rumors that the "Rigsby" family came from Lincolnshire, England originally. I heard that we have some kind of connection with Duke University such that "all male children" are allowed to go there for "free tuition". I'm sure there is no foundation to these "ancestral legends", but just thought I would ask.
