This book may not exist. We have found no copies in any libraries or family history collections in eastern North Carolina - including the state archives and various university archives. Ancestry quotes it because a woman in Michigan supposedly had a copy that she compiled a database from and then submitted the database to Ancestry. When we contacted her about the book, she indicated it was in bad shape as she had located it in a basement and after compiling her database, she discarded it. She did send ancestry a couple of pages but when I read them, I realized the material was not all about Edgecombe County, North Carolina and in fact had geographic references to Edgefield area of South Carolina. Many of the family names in the compiled database misleading because she assumed the all references to a person with the same surname was the same so she will have one many with five wives and even have a marriage date after his death date. Please do not accept any reference from that work. We have tried to find references to the book in the local papers (we have them going back to the 1820s) or to the organization that supposedly authored the book, but have no luck in tracking down any confirmation that the book existed locally.
