Looking for Philips / Phillips of Edgecombe & Nash COs of NC.
Several Phillips brothers (sons of John Phillips who died 1758/59 in Surry CO VA) settled in the area of Edgecombe CO NC beginning in the 1740's.
Three of these brothers were John Jr., (my) Arthur and Hartwell Phillips. We believe, but there is a question, that the fourth brother may be the Joseph who marr Sarah Exum.
I have included an obit for one of the descendants of the "elder" Hartwell Phillips. This elder Hartwell died abt Oct 1801 in Edgecombe CO (estate filed).
We are hoping to track all of the descendants of these Phillips brothers who were of early Edgecombe CO. Many of their descendants ended up in Nash County.
I would be very interested in exchanging information with any one researching this family.
