He was born in North Carolina, either in Edgecombe or somewhere near a bouts. He had the following children:

John Lewis 1834, Elizabeth Ann Lewis 1837, Mary Lewis1842, Esther/Easter Lewis 1843. Looking for who his first wife was, and who his parents were. They later moved to Tennessee.
