Mrs. Barbara Jean Holcomb Kidd, 69, of Winston-Salem, died Mon-day, Aug. 6, 2001, at Forsyth Medical Center.
She was born July 18, 1932, in Forsyth County to Walter Deems and Alberta Vestal Holcomb.
Mrs. Kidd was a 1951 graduate of Griffith High School, a member of Antioch Baptist Church on Palmer Lane, a member of the choir, a Sunday-school teacher and a songwriter. She was also a member of the Old Salem chapter of the American Business Women's Association.
Surviving are three sons, Richard G. Kidd and Aubrey E. Kidd Jr., both of the home, and Walter "Walt" S. Kidd and wife Jan of Lexington; three grandsons, Chris Kidd of Winston-Salem, John Kidd of Roanoke, Va., and Brandon Kidd of Raleigh; and a special buddy, "Shadow."
A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2001, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel by the Rev. Linda Lewis, the Rev. Bobby Reece and the Rev. Neal Eller. The family will receive friends after the ser-vice. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative CareCenter, 1100-C S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27103; or the Antioch Baptist Church, 910 Palmer Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27107.
