Hello
I am familiar with the research on the Peter Smith who moved to Indiana. I'm not saying he was the Peter Smith that was in the Rev War but was either his nephew or son. It is recorded that Peter Smith purchased land in Surry Co in 1786 which was originally Rowan Co, the Peter Smith who married Susannah would have only been 12 years old at this time. So your Peter Smith is either the son of Christian, Peter or John as these three are brothers according to Christoph's will. Christoph Schmidt married Anna Helena (later Ann Leinbach wife of Abraham)and moved from PA to Rowan Co NC in May of 1760 (which was divided in Surry, then Stokes and then Forsyth in 1848) Their children were John, Peter (my great grandfather), Christian, Margareth, Nelly wife of Joseph Miller, and Catherine. Peter I believe married Maria Magdalena I am not sure at this time who John, Christian, Margareth and Catherine married. Anna Helena Grundling Schmidt wife of Christoph Schmidt was born on June 5, 1720 and died Sept 28, 1790 in what would have been Stokes Co NC. She is buried at Bethabara Moravian Graveyard in what is now Forsyth Co NC. She would have been 55 in 1775. Peter Smith (the only Peter Smith) in the 1790 census had seven children his wife Maria would have been 26 to 27 yrs old he would have been 40. Christian Smith and his wife had three children (Christopher Schmidt is recorded on the same page and is living by his self, John and his wife had one child.
