Peter Smith that married Susannah Leinbach was born in 1775 according to his tombstone (died 8 Dec 1851 at age 75 years). He is buried in Smith Cemetery, Forest Township, Clinton County, Indiana with Sussannah Leinbach Smith who died 17 Jun 1855. So this Peter Smith cannot have been in the Revolutionary War. Somewhere I have this Peter is son of Peter born in 1750 son of Christian Smith who died in 1800 in NC.

Do you have a birth year for Anna Helena Grundling? This may solve the mystery of the Peter - Peter question. If she was too old to have a child in 1775 as I suspect, then Peter Smith (who married Susannah) would not be her son.

Very interesting information. I am a descendent of Peter Smith/Susannah Leinbach.

Thanks,
