Hello
I believe the information posted is in error. I have been working of this line for close to 15 years and can tell you that there is alot of miss information being posted on the internet. I can tell you that you are close but your Peter Smith Sr would probably have been the grandson of Christoph Smith. Christoph had a son Peter Smith (According to his will)and there was only one Peter Smith living in Stokes Co in 1790. Peter Smith's Revolutionary War Pension states he was born in Lancaster Co, PA in April of 1750 and that he came to NC with his parents and settled in Rowan which divied into Surry which divided into Stokes. He states this in his pension and since there is only one Peter Smith in Stokes in 1790 it has to be him. Meaning that Christoph Schmidt who remarried Ann Leinbach after Abraham Leinbach's death already had children who where John, Peter (Lancaster Co Pa April 1750), Christian, Margareth, Nelly, and Catherine. My guess is that John or Christian had a son and named him Peter (Your Ancestor). I'd bet the reason why he is a senior is that he had a son named Peter. The dates match up alot better this way and the documents I have from the State Archives supports this. Also Peter Smith of Stokes County never married an Elizabeth Coble. If you see this on the internet it is wrong, Elizabeth Coble apparently married a Peter Smith of Guilford Co, NC who died in 1813. Peter Smith of Stokes did not died until 1835. Hope this helps.
