I am looking for the family of JAMES PHELPS mid 1700s birth in NC. Married: ? Son: WILLIAM PHELPS b. c. 1773 SC Married SOPHIA LEE b.1777 SC, dau of WILLIAM LEE, of OLD 96 DISTRICT, SC.
JAMES PHELPS probably moved to SC from NC. Whether he stayed there is not known. William and Sophia Lee Phelps later moved to GA. They were in Pulaski Co., GA by 1813-14. Children: Arthur, William, James, Elijah, Sheppard Needham, Elizabeth, Polly, and Caroline. I think William Phelps (Sophia) had a brother named James.
