Surnames: Wilburn
Edward Wilburn and wife Mary St. Clair Wilburn and children arrived in Granville Co., NC (from Fauquier Co., VA) in 1768. Edward Wilburn bought land there in Jan.. 1769, from John Hampton. Is there a Wilburn connection to either the Hampton or Harris families in Granville Co., in the 1760's, 1770's? The Wilburns lived in the Nap of Reed's District where Edward gave oath of allegiance and served in the militia as a corporal, along with son John. Ch: Thomas, John, Zachariah, Lewis, Lydia,Susanna, Richard, Edward, Temperance, Jane. Edward mov to Surry Co in 1783.John stayed. John m. Mrs. Mary Hampton; Zachariah m. Jemima White. Lydia married a Slaughter. Susannah married a Ludlow, Jones. There also seems to be a Thomas and Temperance Wilburn, related to the Harris family? in Granville in this time period. Any Wilburn, many spellings, infor from Granville appreciated.
