Surnames: McLaine, Cucklereese
Trying to find info on the parents/ancestors/families of James McLain (6 May 1781-18 May 1849) & Rebecca Cucklereese (28 Feb 1781-16 Jun 1855). They married 8 Apr 1801 in Orange Co., NC - later a part of Guilford Co. Rebecca's grandfather may have been Nicolaus Kackleriess, a Palatine who arrived from Amsterdam 10 Sep 1737. There is a record of the baptism of James & Rebecca's son, David, in the Frieden Lutheran Church, Guilford Co. Others found listed on church records who may have also been related to Rebecca were Johannes, Jacob, Michael, and Daniel Kachelriess (communicants on 5 Dec 1813. Confirmes on 4 Dec 1813 were James MClain & Margaretha MClain (Rebecca?). There is also a Heinrich Kackelriess listed. The name of Daniel Cockelrize & his wife is posted for the 23 Apr 1831 baptism of their daughter Rebecca. The name is changed in spelling by 1836 to "Cockelrie", 1839 - "Coclerees", etc. James & Rebecca McClain left NC, going to Tennessee & finally settling in Jefferson Co., IL. Would like to correspond with anyone who could furnish any information on either the McLain/McClain or Cucklereese families.
