Hi.
If they lived past 1913 and died in North Carolina, they will have death certificates in the State. There are several online Death Collections available, both free and for fee. If you have a subscription to Ancestry.com, they have the NC Death Certificates and NC Death Collections Databases.
Or you can use the Death records on FamilySearch, which are free. Two of their NC Death Databases are:

NC Deaths 1906-1930, Includes certificate images:

https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1609799

NC Death 1931-1994, abstracted which includes the names of parents, if included on the actual certificates:

https://familysearch.org/search/collection/1584959

On both of the databases, put in the first & last names, and then click either "Death" or "Any" under SEARCH FOR LIFE EVENT, and another box comes in, where you put in the County and State, then click SEARCH. It will use that info as a parameter to search for records.
