I looked at some of my notes. Lewis T. was listed in the census as a merchant in Murfreesboro. I know that he operated a drygoods store with another man. Among other things, they sold furniture. He also either owned or partnered with another man in a livery stable. He was on the Board of Directors of Chowan Institute, now Chowan University (co-ed). He was a heavy contributor to the school. Mary Estelle and at least one of her sisters were graduates. Again, I'll have to drag out half of the house to find all my papers. My family (both sides) were (are?) horrible hoarders. I have a "bone closet" devoted to nothing but genealogy. I'm still trying to find my first Barrett ancestor in or around Southampton Co. His name was John and he purchased a patent from two men in the section between Isle of Wight and Nansemond which became Southampton.
Enough for one day.
