RIMMER & related REUNION July 26-28. Ancestors' MONUMENT at Wheelers.

Our 2013 Reunion is in PERSON COUNTY! We'll dedicate a Monument to our earliest-known NC Rimmers, who also came to Iredell! RIMMER kin will have "EXPLORING PERSON COUNTY" events that weekend July 26-28. We'll visit old homeplaces, churches, cemeteries, and such, most around Hurdle Mills. Roxboro INNKEEPER has "reunion rates." Inquire. A caterer for Saturday's big lunch at Wheelers will serve Carolina B-B-Q and chicken, lots of vegs.

MEMORIAL UPDATE: We will choose our stonemason and wrap up fundraising soon. A few hundred more will reach our $3500 goal! All moneys mailed to cousin Jane - checks payable "Rimmer Family Reunion."

I hope to visit Iredell County sometime next month. On my mother's side, I'm a descendant of William Gibson and Elizabeth Edmund, who are buried in the Concord Presbyterian Church Cemetery at Loray. On my father's side, I'm a descendant of William Bone and Elizabeth Potts who are buried in the Snow Creek Methodist Church Cemetery at Harmony.

My questions are what hotels do you recommend, and what are the hours for these cemeteries?

Are there other places I should visit? How is the genealogy section at the library?

I'm looking for information on William Morgan, Born abt 1801 in N.C., died in or around 1860 in Paragould, Greene, Arkansas. It is believed that he died in a house fire with his 2nd or 3rd wife Delveney and one of his children. I know from tax records that he was in Lawrence Co., as early as 1830. He married Delveney Pearce in 1845. They had two children that I know of; Mary and Jesse. Jesse was born in 1851. I found an 1870 census that had them living with James and Harriet Gentry in Missouri. I am a descendant of Jesse Morgan. I have been unable to find any information on William after 1860, not even a death certificate or burial location. I believe he is related to the Morgan family in N.C., but I have been unable to make a connection. I would appreciate any info you might have on him or his family. Thank-you, Jack Deal.

This obituary for Jane Elliott is that of my 2x great grandmother, Jane Gincey Gheen, widow of Elcana Elliott.
Jane was the daughter of Thomas Gheen and Mary McBride.
The parents of Thomas Gheen were James Gheen and Mary Holmes of Rowan.
I am interested in finding if there is a relationship between Mary Holmes and another of my 2x great grandmothers, Esther Holmes, who was the daughter of James Holmes and Esther McConnell of Turnersburg in Iredell.

I am searching for the parents of Matthew Privett b.1810 NC - d.Bef 1880 AL. He claims to have been born in NC on census, but I have found no record. He moved to Alabama as early as 1835 where "Mattnew Privit of DALLAS Co purchased 40.06 acres of land in MARENGO Co AL." I estimate he married to unknown Abt 1830 and had 2 sons William Thomas Privett 1834-1910 and John W Privett 1836-1915. (I am a descendant of John W) Matthew later married Mary Ann Davis 27 Oct 1846 in Perry Co, AL. They had several children.
If any one has any knowledge of Matthew or his parents, please let me know. I am very willing to share all I have on him and his family. Thanks--Pam

His first wife, Jane Elizabeth Steele (born 25 January 1857 in Rowan County, NC and died 1 July 1889 in Rowan County, NC). His second wife was Jane Elizabeth Guffey (born 10 September 1862 in Rowan County, NC and died 19 April 1945 in Cool Springs, Iredell County, NC).

I am also a descendant of James S Cass Sir through his son Elisha. I would love to exchange information with other Cass researchers.

In particular I am intrigued by the fact he was a slave owner. I would like to know more about James Sr as a person, slave owner, and what he grew on his property. Coming to terms with this is challenging. I had hoped never to find this in my family tree.

I am also curious about this as my GGG is George B. King. His mother Elizabeth Barringer King sisters Mary and Cynthia followed him to Hillsboro Illinois . And this document suggested there was some issues why they left nc. John nussman had been guardianship of Elizabeth when her father had died Margaret Nussman was her mother.

Do any of you know where to point me regarding Joshua M. SMITH found on the 1830 census of Iredell County, North Carolina? I am interested in finding his parents and who he married or anything pointing to him.

I believe he removed to Haywood and Lauderdale Counties in Tennessee according to 1840 and 1850 census records.

Census records also indicate that he was born in NC about 1808. I see some who are researching SMITH families. SO, I would love to find some clue about Joshua.

His children born in NC before moving to TN are; John Sidney SMITH, Euphemia Emeline SMITH, and Matilda A. SMITH, all born before 1839. He has more children born in TN: William H. SMITH, Sarah Green SMITH, Lewis C. SMITH and James K. P. SMITH. Joshua appears to become a widower in 1850 in Lauderdale County, Tennessee.

Any help or clue would be a real help and blessing.

I believe this is a son or grandson of Malachi Stokes McIntyre and Elizabeth Murray McIntyre. Elizabeth was the sister of my great, great, great grandmother Priscilla Murray, daughters of Jesse and Elizabeth.

Long shot, grabbing at straws before I have adequate data, but does anyone know the following family found in 1880 Coddle Creek, Iredell, NC Census: Nancy Brown, head, age 53, son S.J. Brown age 25, Dau Emma Brown age 20, and grandson N.N. Brown age 3 months? Trying to locate a Nancy Brown who was widow of Noah Wilson Brown in Stokes Co, NC(died Civil War) and had children named Rufus John, Reubin Armistead, Wm. Lindsay, Ladocia Louise "Ladarsky", Eliza, Emma, and Samuel Brown. Any further info know on this 1880 family appreciated! Margaret in Southern Calif.
