My name is Cassandra Colclough, we are all distantly related. Here goes.. My great grandfather was William T Pace, son of Madison and Mary (we have their photograph). Madison was the son of Alsey and Cassandra. I have a photo of William T and my grandmom Sarah.. I was named after Sarah's mom Cassandra Williamson. William T married Cassandra and move to the land our family owns today. I have a photo of the Pace cemetary. My middle name is Ellen, I was named after my great aunt Elonoise mother of Geneva Todd (Aunt Jenny) I adored my Sunday school teacher and aunt. The Pace family land was lost in 1907 somehow and William T and Cassandra moved to hwy 39 area. Weldon's family lives just around the corner and is decidedly mulatto. My grandmom spoke often of Harriet, David and Beady. FYI Weldon's family is very much mulatto today. These folk worked hard to maintain their white heritage. Intermarriage was prolific. My great aunt was impregnated by her brother.
The family cemetary needs much work. Their are 3 Pace family cemetaries on off Hwy 39.. The old Pace family land
is just a stones throw away. My grandmother was delivered there and the house remains... My grandmother and was listed on the 1920 census as mulatto. I always thought is was of a African background, but it is decidedly Native American and European..
