Both Edmund and Barney served in Co. H, 13th La., Partisian Rangers. They are listed in Booth's book on Louisiana CSA units. Buried next to them is Thomas Jefferson Cox. I cannot determine if he is a brother, cousin, or what. Thomas Jefferson Cox married Vashti Southern, and she applied for a widow's pension from his service. None of her family knows about Thomas.
I know Edmund, Sr. had other children living in MS--John, Elizabeth (married Roy Jones), and Polly. Julia Cox is the daughter of Thomas Cox and Sarah Loften but she lived with Elizabeth Cox Jones, and one census record called her the mother of Julia. Don't know who Polly Cox is, too many to be certain.
I suspect Edmund is son of Josiah Cox and Judith Peele of Wayne Co., NC. They are in Rich Square and Contentnea MM records (Quakers).
Check out Find-a-Grave.com, Arcadia City Cem. in Bienville Parish, La to see photos of Barney's and Edmund's headstones. If you find any connection to your Arkansas line, I would be very interested.
