Hazel Althea Edwards, 91, of Highlands, NC died Saturday, May 2, 1998 in the Highlands-Cashiers Hospital.

She was a native of Macon County, a daughter of the late Ransom and Mary M. Hicks Hedden.

She was married to Daniel G. Edwards who died in 1985. She was a nurse, a former member of the Eastern Star Highlands Chapter and a member of the Highlands United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Hazel Rogers of Marietta, GA and Virginia NIx of Highlands, NC; six sons, James Mack Edwards of Pembroke Pines, FL, Daniel Duane Edwards of Wetumpka, AL, Albert H. Edwards of Highlands, Haze D. Edwards of Woodbury, GA, Robert C. Edwards of Powder Springs, GA, and Frank D. Edwards of Highlands, NC; four sisters, Fannie Beaty of Seneca, SC, Betty Hudson of Greenville, SC, Eva Baty of Highlands, NC and Carma Henry of Mountain Rest, SC; 20 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services were held Tuesday, May 5, in the HIghlands United Methodist Church with Rev. Carl Lindquist officiating. Burial was in the Horse Cove Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Ralph Hedden, Ronald Green, Ted Hedden, Larry Pressley, Jim Baty, and Jerry Hedden.
