I noticed your entry and thought that I would write to you, particularly since my father's name was Charles Robert and my brother's Robert. Mansfield is my ggg grandfather through his son Joseph Black Anderson>Robert Alexander>Miles Henry>Charles Robert. If you have read my entry to Dawn Watson, then you know that I do not agree with the widely accepted Swedish genealogy since if there is proof, I cannot find it. My father and my mother who is now 98, have given me a great deal of information, and I am working on this line. Mansfield and Harriet were married in Monroe County Mississippi, where they continued to live for sometime. These records are available. The marriage and the census showing them living there. It is my belief that Mansfield's mother died when he was very young. With the war of 1812, and the massive earthquake that shook the Mississippi River Valley for more than 2 months during, I believe 1811-1812, I do believe that many records were lost and possibly many people died.
From my research, I believe that he "landed" and stayed in Tennessee because he had family there. He did serve in the War of 1812 in West Tenn. under Wynne. I have other information that I am working hard to prove. There are many who are interested in this family. I receive emails, messages, phone calls, letters, etc. often. It is a tough one, but I finished everything else in my lines that i possibly could and then came back to it. It would be great to receive other input, but so far, I have only my own. When it is as accurate as I can make it to my satisfaction, i intend to offer to all family members, hoping that others may add to or take from it as the records dictate.Good luck to you.

I ordered the death certificate, and after I sent the message to you, I started looking through my massive amount of records to find it. I remember it so clearly that under father's name it was first written Joseph, which was harriet's father's name,( we believe) and joseph was crossed out and james written underneath it....I will let you know when I unearth it.

Hi Dawn, I am sorry to take so very long to get back to you. I have been ill for a long time, but I ran across this entry and wanted to clarify. I mistakenly said Mansfield's birth record, when I should have said his death certificate which states that his father was James and that he was born in SC. I have traced virtually every Anderson of whom there is a record during the correct time period and I can say positively that I do not agree with the Swedish genealogy, of which there is no proof whatsoever that I can find. If the originator of the story has shared with anyone what proof exists, I would sure like to know. I have found two other lines that fit very closely with information that my father gave me and my mother who is still living at 98. When I am sure of the line. I will open my tree to the public.
Also I noticed a reference from another person regarding the vital statistics listings for Macon County. From the items that I have ordered from the lists, 2 have been wrong. I no longer rely on any one else's info. It is like the census, where so often names were so mispelled as to be unrecognizable.Happy Hunting!

The William Morrison you asked about did marry Susannah Queen, however, she was his second wife. His first wife was
Cynthia Black of Mecklenburg County, daughter of William Black. She was the mother of all his children and died in 1843. William subsequently married Susannah Queen, apparently in the same year. He was born in 1794 in Burke Co., NC and moved to Macon County, NC in 1832. His home, of
poplar logs, two story, is still standing, and in the hands of the Land Trust for the Little Tennessee. He was my ggreat,great-grandfather. His wife, Cynthia, drove a surrey from Burke County to Macon County with her first three children,John, William, and Alfred riding along. as well as a black woman, Minnie, who had been with her all her life. The little boy, William, born 1828, was my great-grandfather. I have birth dates, marriage partners, marriage dates, death dates, and in several cases, all their children's names, dates, etc. The name of his first wife is absolutely correct, I have a letter from his grandson giving me that information.

I am also looking for documentation showing that Eleanor is the daughter of John Bryant. Bryants will leaves his stuff to Bryant grand daughters. I need this to join a heritage society. I can prove on paper my line from me back to Henry Saunders Sr. Henry Juniors death certificate lists Henry Senior and Nancy McCaslin as his parents. So I need to link on paper Henry Sr. to Miles,Elenanor to Thomas Curtis and to her father John Bryant. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Jon Holland

Browns (Susan, Lawson, Polly...)

I believe I'm descended from Lawson Brown, probably a grandson of Susan. He shows up in the 1850 census with Susan and his (presumable) siblings, Milton, Polly and Marion. He moved to Burke County and married Elizabeth Whisenant and fathered my g-grandmother, Mary Lou (Brown)(Watkins) Cope.

Does anyone have information on this family at all? My dad did the genealogy, but he has passed on, and I believe he possibly linked to the wrong Lawson Brown (who also lived in Burke County during that general time period).

Susan was born in 1795 in Lincoln County, according to the census, and I've not found her husband or children. I think she may possibly be the grandmother to the kids, since she was 60 and the oldest child (Lawson) was 18 at the time of the 1850 census. As far as I can see, all the kids were born in Macon County and stayed in that general area (Jackson/Macon counties) except for Lawson. Mary (Polly) was seen last in the 1880 census with Susan and was listed as blind. If this rings any bells, please post--I'd love to know more about the family. My father's health was declining, and his research on this part of his family was a little sketchy.

Hello, my wife and I ate lunch at this restaurant in Franklin, on our honeymoon, in August 1967. Does anyone know the address at which this restaurant was located? We were on our way to Florida, so it was probably located near U.S. Highway 441.

We have been back to Franklin a few times recently, but could not locate the location of that old restaurant. It had a water wheel in the front parking lot. Any help would be appreciated.

Lula was listed in the 1900 census of Macon Co., NC with her brother, Raleigh (Robert) BINGHAM. Their mother's name was Marinda (born May 1844 NC) but I don't know who their father's name was, nor can I find them before 1900.

Lula had an illegitimate child, Irene Estella, who took the surname SHOPE, perhaps after her father who was rumored to be Zeb SHOPE. Raleigh/Robert married Sarah Esso BINGHAM, daughter of Cicero L.
Raleigh/Robert is Robert Lee Bingham who did marry Sarah Essie Bingham. Sarah Essie died 1929. Robert remarried my great grandmother Mary Lizzie (?) Lula was Roberts sister and they called her Ang according to my grandma Anna Bingham D/O Robert Bingham. Cicero is infact Sarah Essie's father who was married to Altheline Missouri. After their marriage Cicero then married Altheline's sister (??) Nebraska Hodgins. Also Marinda is Robert and Lula's mother but my same problem is I dont know their fathers name cause I have never seen him listed on any census reports.
