Here is some of what I have, most of it is on the Freeman side though, but maybe it will help you some.

v. Mary Freeman, born April 13, 1841 in Buncombe County, NC; died January 27, 1936 in Bailey's Branch, Madison Co, NC; married Jay Ball January 15, 1867 in Madison County, NC.

vi. James Freeman, born 1843 in Buncombe County, NC; died November 24, 1863 in Gordonsville, VA.

Notes for James Freeman:
Enlisted in the army of Confederacy in Buncombe County, NC as a private on
May 7, 1861 and was discharged a few months later "for reasons of 'general
disability' and fracture of the left humerus." He later re-enlisted in the
1st Regiment, NC Artillery, where he was promoted to corporal in November,
1862. It appears that James was wounded in action at Bristoe Station in
Virginia on November 14, 1863, and was subsequently transferred to
Gordonsville, VA, where he died from his wounds and erysipelas ten days later.

Enlisted in the army of Confederacy in Buncombe County, NC as a private on May 7, 1861 and was discharged a few months later "for reasons of 'general disability' and fracture of the left humerus." He later re-enlisted in the 1st Regiment, NC Artillery, where he was promoted to corporal in November,

Mounted Infantry, until his discharge at the end of the war.
Also rumored to be the father of Lyshie Banks, Marry Banks, and Garfield
Banks.
