Am trying to find descendents of Sarah L. Sams, born about 1830 and died in Madison Co about 1920. She was first married to my John Chandler in Yancey Co about 1849. John and Sarah had several sons, one source says Thomas and Abner, another says Terrell and Asa, and a daughter Martha (married a White). John was deceased between 1862-1868. Sarah remarried Lawrence Effler in what is now Unicoi Co. He was much senior to her. By 1890 Sarah began a series of stays in mental institutions, but I believed she died at home about 1920 in Madison. An Anson B. Sams was her guardian for some time, and Im sure she had a brother Anson B. Sams, older than she, so this had to be a different generation. Any clues out there as to descendents of Sarah? As my direct ancestor, would like to find anyone that goes back to her first husband, John Wesley "Jack" Chandler.
