JOINER JOYNER Family

Looking for information on the family of Thomas JOINER who was on the 1787 Tax List and also on the 1890 Census of Halifax Dist., Martin Co. NC. I would like to find out if this Thomas JOINER had two sons named William and Charlton, who both wound up in Roane Co. TN. Charlton was on the 1812 Tax List of Davidson Co., TN, then went to Roane Co., TN by 1820 or so. A early newspaper article describes this William JOINER has having a bitter enemy from his 'home' county by the name of John GARDNER. This John GARDNER likely wound up close to or in Roane Co. also. The same article states that William 'Uncle Billy' JOINER had a brother named Charlton who came to Roane in 1820. Charlton JOINER was my 3-gr grandfather. Any information about this JOINER family or this GARDNER family would be greatly appreciated.
