Different source:
Mary Cox EzellÕs first husband was Israel Cox who was born July 3, 1765 and died 1778 in Rowan Co. NC.

Will of Frederick Ezell, Mecklenburg Co., NC, Will Book C, #234, p. 55, written 30 July 1816, probated in Aug. 1825 Court.
Being advanced in years, I give to my wf Mary [Quick] Ezell her bed and furniture, my mare, all kitchen furniture, two cows, the use of the negro Jarvis, for her lifetime, and then to descend to my dau. Phebe Houston, and the use of a third of my plantation where I now live and then to descend to my son Frederick. I give to my son Frederick the negro Tony, the other two-thirds of my plantation or 100 acres on Cochran Cr, and 40 A on Sixmile Cr. adj. Potts. I also give to my dau Phebe $100 out of the rest of my property, and the remainder is to be sold and proceeds divided equally among my wf and two children. Exrs: Son Frederick and James Bond. Wit: J. Fincher and Richard and James Bond.

Moses Ezell received a Catawba Indian land lease for 297 acres on Tar Kiln branch, which feeds into Six Mile Creek at the Old Six Mile cemetery, from Wilson Allen on 26 Dec 1836. The lease was transferred to Andrew Ezell on 14 May 1838 and Andrew transferred the lease to Frederick Ezell on 10 Sept 1839.

16 June 1826, ÒFrederick Ezell of MecklenburgÓ acquired 112 acres on Twelve Mile Creek Òfrom mill road to Wm. Potts cornerÓ from the Catawba Indians.

In 1810 the York District Census shows John Ezell, Sr. and John Ezell, Jr. as heads of separate households.

Flint Hill Baptist Church records [Flint Hill Baptist is north of the town of Fort Mill on the N. C. line between Pineville and Carowinds, a short distance south of Hwy 51 and from Hwy 21]:
Frederick Ezzell baptized 1810. Dismissed 1848.

Jane Ezzell dead 1844
Frederick Ezell senior on roll of Flint Hill book that is labeled Ò1792-1836;Ó his exact dates unknown. [Flint Hill cemetery inscriptions book does not show an Ezell.]

Lancaster Ledger, Oct 31, 1860:
ÒThomas P. Black vs. Harriet C. Elmore in Equity, Richland. Sale of Ezzel Gold Mine in Lancaster County, 133 acres on 12 Mile Creek and within the Indian boundary and second tract known as Gordon Mill on 12 Mile creek including the Millhouse Dam & fixtures covered by the mill and 15 acres of land to be chosen and situate adj. said mill pond and Premises.Ó

Sometime after the above notice: Ã’Darley & Co. vs. Joseph Clark, Execution. 90 acres lying in Lancaster County known as the Ezell Gold Mine tract adj. lands belong to State of S. C. and others. 14 acres pr.0.1. lying situate on the waters of 12 mile creek bounded by lands of Lloyd Rone, estate of Edward Yarborough and others.

Dec 4, 1964 interview with Miss Jennie Helms in the Monroe Enquirer Journal on Marvin community history (Union County, NC):Õ
ÒThe T. J. Ezzell home, now occupied by Franklin Ezzell was on the site of the old Buckhill Baptist Church, but the first Ezzell house was about a mile out, and was built in 1782 on land held under a grant from King George to John King, who died of smallpox. It was first occupied by Frederick Ezzell in 1783.Ó

Note: The Ezzell Gold Mine property was purchased by the Charlotte Rifle and Pistol Club ca. 1960 and is used for target practice, the pits providing a steep earthen embankment that absorbs the ammunition and minimizes the noise.

Fredrick Ezzell b. 1746 married Mary Quick, dates unknown
Fredrick Ezzell, Jr. b 1782, married Jane Spratt, b. Nov 2, 1786.
They had a daughter:
Jane Spratt Ezzell, b. Feb 7, 1818 m. (1) Ezra Phifer, b. 1819, d. 1842; m. (2) July 25, 1843 to the Rev. Adam Ivy, Methodist minister whose first wife was Ann Morrow, dau. of James McKnight Morrow and Susannah Watson.
Issue: 1 daughter by 1st marriage:
Mary Jane Phifer who married Dr. John Newton Nisbet
[Their children: Edward William, James Douglas, Thomas, Augustus, Walter Olin, Julius Marcellius, Claude Phifer, Verner.]

Abner Houston married Phoebe Ezell daughter of Frederick Ezell and their first son was Frederick Ezell Houston.

Abner Houston went to Tenn. He became wealthy and gave the land to form the town of Lewisburg, Marshall County. He went to Texas when it was still a Republic, lost money and when he died in Montgomery Co., Texas he was a poor man.
