Margaret (Mary) Elizabeth Hagler married William M.(will) or S. (other places)Shook near St. John's Lutheran Church of Catawba Co. NC and they had a lot of children listed later. They and most of their family moved to Keysville VA in 1913 where they farmed and ran their sawmill. "Bettie" Shook died (VA Cert. of Death 22229)in Keysville, Charlotte County, VA October 28, 1925 at age 78 years, 5 months, 21 Days of complications from Diabetes and Copulary Bronchitis with burial Oct. 30, 1925 at Ash Camp Memorial Church in Keysville VA. Her placeof birth listed as Mecklenburg Co. NC with Father's name listed as Adam "Haggler" and mother's name as Elizabeth "Hegler" by her husband William Shook. Her will in Charlotte Co. VA will book 5 page 327 lists the following living heirs;Mark L.(Marcus)Shook(my ggfather); Cora(Dora?)Shook Huffman age 40 in 1926in Taylorsville NC;
C. (Calvin or Cullen?) Shook age 35 in 26 in Keysville VA;
Carr Shook age 32 then living in Hickory- died 1950 after being hit by car-buried-St. Stephens Lutheran Cem., Hickory
Mary Shook Hefner age 30 then-lived in Newton- died 1972; the will had Cora Mae Shook who married a Shook confused with Dora Shook Huffman; William Shook's will had it right. William M. Shook's VA death Cert. 10428 shows him dying May 10, 1927 at 82 years age of Apoplexy caused by Nephritis . Burial was May 12 at Ash Camp Memorial Church, Keysville VA where I have seen their tombstone. Charlotte Co. VA W.B. 5, Page 484 has an inventory of his goods and Chattels. His will in WB 5 page 480 lists: Marcus L. Shook(61) son; Owen L. Shook(34) gson;Anna Shook Noise(32) gdaughter;Cora Mae Shook(33)daughter;Mary Shook Hefner(35)Daughter;Dorah Shook Huffman(55) dau;Car(Carr)Shook(48)son;Calvin M.Shook (46) son;with all ages as of May 13, 1927. My grandmother Blanche Alice Shook Married Obed Carl Bowman in Alexander Co NC early 1910 and died 14 Dec. 1918 in Hickory NC in the Flu epidemic after her fourth child was still born 12 dec 1918. Their death cert. are in the Catawba Co. NC records. My mother was Blance's second child. Blanche was the first child of Marcus L. Shook and Angeline Pope who died before the Shook move to VA and is buried in St. John's Lutheran in Catawba co. NC.
