I have a string of BROOMS and they came from Anson/Meck/Union county NC as did my Shelbys...Mary "Polly" Shelby married 1) Jonathan Broom of Meck. NC her parents were Thomas & Hannah SHELBY...they moved to TN eventually to Maury County ...in War of 1812, Jonathan got sick and came home to die...Mary later remarried but there are BROOM children. I will have to look in by book to see names....JMJ
