I'm searching for any info concerning Joseph ALLEN (b 23 May 1804 Montgomery Co., NC d 17 Feb 1877, Stanly Co., NC). Joseph married Oney SHANKLE and had the following children:

4) Nancy ALLEN
5) George Washington ALLEN
6) Jane Emiline ALLEN (b 1836 d 1908)

I have the parents of Joseph ALLEN listed as George ALLEN (b 1769/1770 VA d 1850's Stanly Co., NC) and Jane SNUGGS. However, I have seen reference to a Joseph ALLEN (b 23 May 1804, Montgomery Co., NC) as being the son of Joseph ALLEN Sr. and a Turkish woman. The Montgomery County Heritage Book mentions a Joseph ALLEN & his "Darnedelle" wife; "Darnedelle" being a reference to Darnede in Turkey or Greece. If anyone knows of this branch of the ALLEN family, I'd greatly appreciate any assistance. Thank you.
