I am a descendant of Alfred Moore (1799-1877); ,my 5th great grandfather was David Moore (1770-1830) who married Sarah Wilkerson (1770-1840). I have a copy of The Moore Family History (1725-1981) written by a cousin,Martha Moore who has copies of wills, agreements, letters and other documentation included in the text. Sarah Wilkerson was known to be full-blooded Cherokee Indian but there is no mention of who her parents were. There is a copy of a letter from a cousin, Anna Land, dated December 1948 that states that Sarah Wilkerson was Cherokee. Ms Land also states that as a child she remembered a frequent visitor to Alfred Moore's home named John Wilson or John Wilkerson, an Indian, and possibly the brother of Sarah. He would sing to the children in Cherokee. She also recalls a visit from a man refered to as Chief Bushyhead who came to the house before daylight. He wanted to say goodbye because he was leaving. She doesn't know if there is a family connection but I wonder why he would come to say goodbye unless there was a blood connection to Sarah.
