Hello Onslow Researchers,
1790 Census has several Shepherds living in Onslow Co. NC.
My oldest know ancestor was born in NC in 1970. Same old story, we are trying to place him with his family there and don't know for sure what county. Here is what we have:

George Shepherd b 1790
Polly "Mary" (maiden unknown) Shepherd b 1795
Anderson Shepherd b 1824 NC
Riley Shepherd b 1827 NC or TN
Judith Shepherd b 1830 KY
Jefferson Shepherd b 1832 KY
Franklin Shepherd b 1832 KY
George Shepherd b 1834 KY
Green Shepherd b 1836 KY
William Shepherd b 1840 MO
Andrew Shepherd b 1843 MO

It is reported that Grandfather Anderson Shepherd told his Grandson that this line of Shepherds came from Scotland originally. I do know my own father was stocky, ruddy complextioned, and red headed.
I have been searching the NC Census Indexes for Shepherds any spelling. There were a lot of shepherds in 1790 NC! )~: Will help other researchers any way I can.
