I am researching Jasper W. Belew. He's from Alabama and moved to Carrol Tennessee. According to census reports from 1870 and 1880, he had a black 'servant' name Margaret Pearson, later name Margaret Utley. They had a child together, Rhoda Belew. Rhoda Belew is my great-great aunt.

Rhoda's family says Jasper is white and wanted nothing to do with Rhoda, and that he had a white family. However, I can't find anything about a wife, kids, and grandkids he may have had.

I am also, definitely, researching Margaret (Pearson?) Utley. If you have anything on her, her family, or her relationship to Jasper Belew and want to share, I'd greatly appreciate it. Seems that Margaret Utley is my great, great, great grandmother.
