Recently I was sent a single slide obtained by my aunt in 1975 at a Ranger Station just outside the Qualla Reservation, in Smoky Mtn. Nat'l Park. The picture was of an older lady, the caption simply said "Aunt Winchester". She was well known at the Ranger Station and was said to come down from the mountains once or twice a year for supplies etc. I am awaiting a copy of an article that appeared about her daughter Angelina Lucinda Winchester Davis from the High Point Enterprise of Sept. 1975. Can ANYONE tell me more about "Aunt Winchester" and her painting? My "heart" tells me I connect to the Cherokee thru my Winchester ancestors. Thank you...
