PLEASE NOTE - it is with much regret that I must inform the Wright family that the information I posted on Greenbury/Greenberry Wright is in error. At the time, it seemed his parents were Peter Wright & Rachel Wood. It came to light when I fully understood that the years were off too much.
The Peter Wright [& Rachel Wood married 26 Mar 1812 in Harrison County, Indiana] - http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?indiv=1&db=ea...
was the son of Amos Wright, b. 1764 [Amos was son of Richard Wright, Sr. and 'Ann']. This Peter Wright was a preacher and died bef August 1852 in Jasper County, Missouri.
The children of Peter Wright & Rachel Wood were:
Malinda Wright 1813–1880
Tilman Lowe Wright 1816–1894
Dempsey Wright 1817–1851
Nancy Wright 1818– 1870
Washington Wright 1820– ?
Rebecca Wright 1822–1904
Violet Wright 1824– 872
Elizabeth 'Betsy' Wright 1825–1858
There's not a 'Greenberry/Greenbury' amongst them.
Regarding the Greenberry Wright [who may have been b. abt 1780] who married Catherine Lodica Sevedge [1780–1860] - I have not found his parents. [There WAS another Peter Wright [b. 1754]; died unknown, who was also the son of Richard Wright, Sr. and Ann; however, no information has been found of a wife or children for him.]
Documented evidence for this Greenberry's [d.o.d 1813] pension was received confirming he died in 1813 from wounds received at the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811. The application was filed by 'Docia' Savage - after the death of her 2nd husband. She was permitted to file the application as the widow of Greenberry after providing substantial evidence that she had indeed been married to him at the time of his death.
At this time, this Greenberry's parents are unknown to me. Anyone with information on who his parents are, please let me know. While I believe I am fairly proficient on this Wright family, this mystery has me perplexed.
This family had a penchant for using the same names throughout the generations, only differentiated by the year of birth/death. I have 5 'Greenberry/Greenbury' Wright's in the family line - none of which can be considered to be the right Wright.
Again, my profound apology for the error.
