I'm searching for any information about the IVEY family in Randolph Co., especially Benjamin IVEY (b abt 1730 d 1802). Benjamin IVEY was the oldest son of Adam A. IVEY (b in VA d 1762 in Edgecombe Co., NC). Adam A. IVEY left Benjamin his plantation, which Benjamin sold in 1773. Most of the IVEY children moved to Robeson Co., NC before 1790-- they lived on Drowning Creek (Lumber River) in the heart of Lumbee country and were neighbors to the LOCKLEAR clan. I don't know if Benjamin lived in Robeson Co. before relocating to Randolph Co. or if he moved to Randolph county directly from Edgecombe Co. Benjamin is said to have married Sallie KINCHEN (although a Robeson Co. woman named Edey is listed as his wife when he sells the Edgecombe Co. plantation). Benjamin had the following children (I do not know if they were born in Randolph Co):

1) Kinchen IVEY (b 26 Sep 1784)
2) Rebecca IVEY (b 01 Jan 1786 d 11 May 1845

+ Thomas KEARNS (1776-1847)
3) Elizabeth IVEY (b 08 Mar 1787 d Nov 1860)

+ Marshall NANCE (1771-1801)
4) Priscilla IVEY (b 05 Jun 1790 d aft 1860)

+ Thomas NANCE (1782-abt 1874)
5) Sally IVEY (b 09 Jun 1794)
6) Susannah IVEY (b 22 Aug 1796 d aft 1866)

+ William SWARINGEN (1785-1860)
7) Benjamin IVEY Jr. (b 03 Jun 1800)

+ Mary SHANKLE

There is a great deal of confusion and oddness with this line-- surely Benjamin did not start having children in his 50s (he would have been 70 when his youngest child was born!)? Perhaps the Benjamin in Randolph county is actually Benjamin III? Was Sallie the first or second wife, or was Edey (Edey remains in Robeson Co. were she is listed as the head of household of 8 "free other" in 1790)? This line of IVEYs in Randolph Co. needs a lot of work. Any information would be most appreciated. Thank you.
