It took me a while to unravel the Dial-Paul relationship; I hope this helps resolve your questions.

Edith Dial born about 1813 had six children for Rowland Paul. The children were born between 1834 and 1845, and they carried the Dial surname. Around 1850, Edith Dial married Benjamin Lowry and two children were born between 1855 and 1858; they carried the surname Lowry.

Edith's son with Rowland Paul, Quinny Dial, married and had a family. After Quinny Dial died, his children dropped the surname Dial and used the surname Paul. Quinny's descendants sometimes refer to him as Quinny Paul, although he is listed as Quinny Dial in records.
