I am a descendent of Joseph Allen Sr. born ca. 1769-70, possibly in NC and died 28 Feb 1849, in Rockingham Co., NC. His wife was named Sarah (maiden name unknown). She was born ca. 1780, and died in April, 1849. He had a number of children, some of which may have been from a previous marriage, which may explain some of the "bad blood" among the siblings.
The children were as follows:(1) Rebecca, b. ca. 1798, (2) Elisha, b. ca. 1799, (3) Joseph, Jr., b.14 Feb. 1801, (4) Nancy, b. ca. 1802, (5) William, b. ca. 1805, (6) Sally, b. ca. 1809, (7) Samuel, b. ca. 1814,(my line) (8) Rachel, b. ca. 1815, (9) Henry, b. ca. 1816, (10) Ennis, b. ca. 1818, (11) Charles, b. 16 Jan. 1821, (12) George and (13) Lucinda.
I am looking for information concerning the possible previous marriage of Joseph Sr. and also his origins. I have additional information concerning some his children and their fortunes and foibles.
