Does anyone have information on the early McBrides of Rockingham County during the late 1700's to the 1850's??
I am currently looking for a John McBride who married an Elizabeth Smith. John, born circa 1805,Elizabeth, born circa 1803, married abt.1830. Children of John and Elizabeth...... Edward-1831; Elizabeth-1834; Jefferson-1837; Patrick-1839; Jenetta-1842; Drury-1846 and Charles-1850.

Elizabeth's parents were Frank Smith, born circa 1772, and Anny Grogan, born circa 1775. Her parents both died in Rockingham County after 1856. I have the background for the Smith line dating to 1702.

The McBride line is a different story. I need parents of John McBride. John and wife Elizabeth moved to Surry County after 1850. The 1860 census of Surry County shows John as age 56 and farming. He owned a large tract of land near the VA/NC state border and is buried there in a private cemetery with Elizabeth and Patrick's family, his son.

Any information would be greatly appreciated and if I can help in any of the above surnames, just let me know. Us genealogists have to stick together.

Best of Luck,
Carol
