Since most of my ideas regarding the ancestry of Aaron Freeman have befn disproved. The believed links to ancestors in Bertie are, in my view, disproved. I am starting anew with research on the early history of Rowan County.

I had believed that Rowan was settled mostly by people form Virginia making their way westward from Albermarle and Bertie.

I have come to believe that the settlers came mostly from PA and were Scots Irish or German. I found three people with Freeman surnames in the mid 1750's in Rowan, but don't have info other than they owned property and served in the militia.

I will add to this thread as I gain further information.
