State of North Carolina Rowan County
On this 20th day of November 1832 personally appeared in open Court before the
Magistrates who are Judges of the Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions, now sitting, the same
being a Court of Record Allison Fleming a resident of Rowan County in the State of North
Carolina aged 73 years who being first duly sworn according to law doth on his oath make the
following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the act of Congress passed June 7th, 1832.
That he was born in the County of Kent in the State of Delaware; that he has a record of
his age at home which states that he was born the 6th day of April 1759; That he removed to
Rowan County North Carolina at the age of about 12 years; where he has resided ever since.

State of Ohio Preble County, Court of Common Pleas September Term A.D. 1832: First Judicial
Circuit of the Court of Common Pleas
On this 21st day of September in the year of our Lord 1832, personally appeared before
the Honorable the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas, in and for the County of Preble, in the
State of Ohio James Fleming aged 70 years, a resident of the County aforesaid who being first
duly sworn according to law, doth make the following declaration on oath, in order to obtain the
benefit of the Act of Congress passed June 7th, 1832.
That he volunteered in the light horse forces, under Captain James Hall, in Rowan
County North Carolina in March, in the year 1779;
