I would be interested in the Obituary for Absalom Revels. There may be a connection to the Absalom that I have researched. Looking at my records I have the following to add:
Absalom Revels, b. 1824; d. 1886 Salisbury, Rowan County NC

1850 United States Census, Roll M423_627 p. 24, Fayettesville Cumberland County
Absalom Revels M Mu 26 blacksmith b. NC

1860 Bellsfontaine, Logan Ohio Census Roll M653_ 1000 p. 3
Absalom Revels M 35 Mu b. NC (b. Abt. 1825)
Mary A. Revels F 31
Elenora S. Revels F 4
Justus B. Revels M 2

Civil War Service Records - Ancestry

Revels Absalom W. 72 U.S. Col'd Infantry Rank: Private Alllegions: Union, Enlist: Mar 8, 1865

Absalom Revels - M Death 1886, Salisbury, Rowan County NC, relative Frederick Ernest Miller (Source: LDS Index

It is very possible that there is something to the fact that my ggrandmother, Rowan Revels, mulatto married a Miller under the assumed name of the white family that she was indentured to when she married my ggrandfather, Tony Miller who was white to hide the fact that Rowan was mixed. A connection between the Millers and the Revels appears likely.
