I just saw your post and to give you hope about knowing your Parker roots even if you are a female. I tested under Family Tree DNA for the Family Finder test. I have some cousins from the Parker line showing up in my test. This test takes in the maternal and paternal branches back so many generations. The website explains it but I am glad to have taken this test since it is showing me cousins who have the papertrail to connect to me on "both sides of the house".
The test has a section where you place the names you want to compare in a chromosome drop down list. I have done a process of elimination on my pages of connections and placed each one in a family surname. I have about four Quick cousins who are male and female who matched with me, several Parker cousins who were known to me from the Parker Surname Project for ydna and that is just the tip of the genealogy iceberg.
