I am looking for any information available on the Downey families in Rutherford County, North Carolina in the late 1700's and the first half of the 1800's. I have found multiple references to an Alexander (land deeds-1819, 1825, census records), a Patrick (multiple census listings and a marriage in 1802), two different Thomases (census records), a Robert (land deed 1827), a William H. (land deed 1827), a James, a John (marriage in 1797), a Jackson H., a Sarah (legal doc from 1806), a Polly (married to Jacob Boheler in 1834), and a Terissa (married to David Boheler in 1841). I am related to Jackson H. Downey who married Catherine (Kitty) White sometime during the 1840's. They were living in Rutherford County in 1850 in the High Shoals District and had two or three small children. Then they moved west into Tennessee and on into Alabama. Can anyone help me make sense of the connections between these individuals?
